So in the video I uploaded you can see me in a sketch environment. When selecting a new or old sketch Inventor now autorotates and zooms out to let you select one of the origin planes. This only happens when there are 0 planes visible.

I DON"T WANT THIS!~!!!!!!!

Please please please tell me there is a way to make this 'function' disappear.

Yeah that's not it. I have that turned off for years.

This is a 'new' function.

IV 2016 SP2 all updates installed.

This is particurly the case in .ipt's when trying to select a NEW SKETCH with NO PLANES VISIBLE.

Can I share what?

If you make an .IPT with a couple of sketches with the planes (incl. origin planes) OFF. You should get the same result.

Hi,

Yeah this happens only when there's no plane visible and there's no selection made.

So first select the face of the body or the plane in the design tree before you hit "create sketch".

By my understanding you can't turn it off.

I think this is probably new behaviour with IV2016?

When creating a new sketch (you were doing this in your video - you weren't selecting a sketch), until you have a solid in the ipt then I think this is how it works. It's not something I've really noticed until you mentioned it. Perhaps just create a "dummy" solid in the ipt and leave it visible to prevent this from happening?

Not ideal I know but a fairly easy workaround.

Hi Michael,

Were you creating new sketches or selecting already existing sketches? I think it is when creating new sketches (that's what the original poster was doing in the screencast) in a ipt without solids that you get this behaviour.

I have a ipt that I can share for a bit. This is a typical Skeleton for us.

I don't tend to work in a ipt without a solid, often I will have derived in a solid. I can only suggest leaving a workplane turned on perhaps.

It should really have a setting in the Options > Sketch tab.

@RobSinglehurst @machiel.veldkamp

Gotcha .... now I see what you're talking about

this is probably a bug that someone from Autodesk needs to record
