Textures missing 2017

Textures missing. I have learned from other posts unstalling previous Inventor versions might have deleted the textures and doing a repair does not install the textures and I see the complete reinstall as the only solution. This is boing and time demanding and if someone knows a work around it would be nice. I don't have the media since I did a web installation from the subscription page.

Thanks

Poul

Looking a little closer i figure out I got the media in the Autodesk folder. So far so good. I  checked the files in the 2 folders was equal and the settings in the project file was looking into the right folder. This made no diffeence. Looking on the error (see the attached png) the material are looking for and .png file and not a .bmp file. Can anyone explain that?

Thanks,

Poul

Welcome to the community!

I think you're having the same issue as @Anonymous
Can you also check if you have the textures at the location i mentioned in this reply in his topic?

I have textures both in both locations,

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\Materials\Textures

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2017\Textures

Next step is I will look into the project file and make sure the Appearance and Material libraries are pointing to the rigth location.

Thanks

Poul

What is inventor showing your in TOOLS- APPLICATION OPTIONS - FILE

Z420 Screen Shot.PNG

In the red highlighted area, I had a similar problem after installing IV2017 and un-installing IV2016 for some reason, possibly to do with migrated project files, IV 2017 pointed to the IV2016 textures.

It simple enough to correct, just go in to TOOLS- APPLICATION OPTIONS - FILE and change 2016 to 2017. In fact check all the file settings to make sure therer ALL pointing to the IN2017 locations. IV should then look in the correct file.

Yes, this is working. Seems like Inventor by default is set to look only at the Inventor library. I good idea for Autodesk might be to combine the libraries to one holding them all.
Thank You,
Poul

Just for clarification, the correct set texture folder that works for me is:

C:\program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\Materials\Textures\

And this does NOT:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2017\Textures

Best regards,

Poul

I think this texture folder helped me for some of them :

C:\program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\Materials\Textures\

But I still have issues with .bmp textures. It looks like he's trying to find them here:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2017\Textures\surfaces

Even if I copy all of them into C:\program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\Materials\Textures\, it doesn't work.

Example of one of them : Wood_2.bmp

Sometimes, if i click the texture in the folder, he finally finds it but the texture still doesn't show...
