Hi,
If I create a part and want text on it (i.e a model number) I must put text in & extrude it to get it to show on a drawing.
But then when it shows on the drawing it shows as outlines, this then makes it look blurry as there is a double line to each letter.
If I were to put that same text on a part but only in the drawing stage then it comes out better as it is single line text.
Is there a way to annotate a model number on to a part so that it shows as single line text in the drawing stage.
(hope this makes sense)
Thanks,
Leandra

As you have found if you extrude it will show as "outlines"
But if you just make the text in a sketch and don't extrude then you can go into your drawing view and right click on that view and select "get model sketches" and it will show the text "normally" (aka without outlines)..
But there are drawbacks to that too.. Like not being able to do a rendering of the part and have that "text" show in the rendering..
So depending on your needs just sketch text might work for you..
You could also use the "decal" functionality BUT that requires you to place a "shaded" view to show the decals..
Hi,
That sounds like the perfect solution to my problem.
I don't need my parts to show model numbers in a rendered view just in plan view.
I have tried what you mentioned but I don't seem to have that "get model sketches" option.
It does have the option with a drop down for "Get model Annotations" but the options on the drop down are greyed out.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Leandra
Hi,
I have attached the part I am talking about, as well as an image of the outcome I am getting.
On the image you will see the word Floor written twice.
The one that looks like outlines of the text is the letter in the part that I have extruded.
The other is the annotation I have added once in the drawing stage.
Thanks,
Leandra
What @mdavis22569 meant with " go into your drawing view and right click on that view and select "get model sketches"" is that you select the model in the browser and right-click on that, see image:
I deleted the extrusion for the text in your model, so it's only the sketch with text.
Hope that is what you're after.

Seems @-niels- is confusing us...
Lol, that was not my intention.
I just picked the wrong name from the @ mention dropdown, credit goes to you @mcgyvr for providing the initial idea
