Text problem

I am running Inventor version 11 and have a problem with text not showing.

For instance, if I want to add "Enlarged" to a section view text label, the text box appears and I type in "Enlarged" but the whole title goes away when I close out the text box.

Also, when I put in a datum identifier such as the letter A, it will show in the text box but will not appear after.

It seems I remember a Windows update being the source of the problem but I'm not sure about it.

Thanks in advance!

Important Announcements

Hotfix to fix Text problem in IDW's has been released
http://usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=DL9229921

Many people are reporting problems adding text to IDW's after installing
Microsoft Windows 2000 Security Hotfix KB918118. Until this is resolved,
you should uninstall the Hotfix, and turn off automatic updates for
Microsoft
updates.

We started having similar text problems this morning on two of our three Inventor seats. I followed the link Blair posted and found the Hotfix for IV10. When I try to run it I get an error message saying;

"This Hotfix could not be installed because it is not designed for the version of Autodesk Inventor 10 that is installed on your computer."

If anyone can offer any suggestions it would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Richard in Houston

You must have Inventor 10 Service Pack 3a installed before installing the
hotfix.

I'm curious, how is it that people are still just discovering this?
It's been almost a year since KB918118 started affecting Inventor, and it seems like about every month one or two people discover it for the first time.

Do they only use Inventor once in a while?
Are they using other software the rest of the time?
Is their design process that long before they have to make a drawing?

Like I said, I'm just curious. You should see some of the responses to people who asked about this a month or two after it first hit. I'm glad to see everyone's calmed down.

Hey Dan, I was very puzzled by this as well. I use Inventor everyday, and create IDW's almost everyday. Somehow this problem didn't appear until yesterday. I first encountered it while trying to place text into a sketch in an IPT. Later it showed up when trying to edit a revision chart in an IDW.

I suspect there must be something involved besides just a MS Hotfix that's been there for over a year. However, my problem is solved, so I'm back to "if it works, don't fix it" mode.

Now you've got me curious about the earlier "responses". 🙂
