Hi,

In the assembly attachment, I tried to constrain  tangent between the 2 curved parts but it isn't work properly. Does there any help please?

Heres an old thread: Solved: tangent between two curved srufaces - Autodesk Community - Inventor

I couldn't get a good result though it does improve if you can align the XY Planes of the two parts.

Can you add an axis to the shackle and constrain to that or do you need full lateral movement?

Actually a translational constraint to an extruded cylindrical surface running through the thimble eye gives a more accurate representation. But it still requires an alignment of the XY planes to stop it going haywire...

Hello,

I have opened the chain example but I haven't understand how did he do the constrains? I have contacted Mr. Curtis about it and waiting his reply.

Thank you for your kindness,

I've had a look, it's very clever! Especially for an assembly created in 2002...

At each chain connection there is a point to point mate constraint at the inside of the radius (the contact point where the chain will rub.

Then there is an 30deg undirected angle constraint between an axis that goes through the point and the plane parallel with the link to an axis going through the point perpendicular to the plane of the link. Open an link and turn on all the work features then hover over the constraints in the assembly. It should be clearer then.

Notice there are no tangent constraints at all...

Sir, how is the Extruded Cylindrical Surface created? There is no tool (as it is seen to me in inventor 2020) to create extruded surface.

Thankyou,

Not a separate tool, it's a button in the Extrude properties panel:
