Summary Parts List - Length Not Working

Hi Everybody,

I've been working on making Inventor into a structural app.

Part of that involved creating various kinds of Parts Lists.

I read Chris Benner's post (below), but that doesn't help me:

https://cadtipstricks.wordpress.com/2014/10/24/frame-generator-parts-list-sorted-by-both-part-number...

So I'm back to the beginning.

I posted a solution a little while ago (below), but that isn't working this time around:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-forum/sorting-in-boms/td-p/9442029

Here's the problem:
1. The 'merged' length isn't reporting all the lengths.

2. Some of the unreported lengths are for parts w/a qty of 1

3. Other unreported lengths are for parts w/a qty of more than 1.

I can't figure out WHY this is happening.

I just ASSumed that I can get all the correct total lengths (by sum) into the Parts list when I 'filter' all the parts down to their 'shape' and 'size' (e.g., angles, beams, flat bar, etc.). Length is Length, RIGHT??

Anybody have any ideas for troubleshooting this?

Here's a screenshot:

Also, I wanted to see what the QTY column would do, so that's part of the Parts List. But the number it's reporting makes absolutely NO SENSE to me. Any ideas why?

Thanx!

Hi Chris,

I suspect there is corruption in the BOM data. To update the BOM, try the followings.

1) Close the drawing.

2) Open the assembly.

3) Activate Master LOD.

4) BOM -> disable the BOM views (Structured and Part Only) -> enable them.

5) Open the drawing.

Does it help? If not, I will need to see the files. Please share with me directly johnson.shiue@autodesk.com.

Many thanks!
