Style Libraries Read Only After Migration Inventor 2023

Hi All,

Have recently installed Inventor Professional 2023 and have used Style Library Manager to migrate the various standards.

All projects have their styles in 'Read/Write' state.

After migration I now have both the source and destination libraries in 'Read-Only' state. Please see below.

Inventor Style Library Manager 2023.jpg

I know of the specific XML style file overwrite in previous versions, but replacing the 'Inventor Studio Lighting' and 'Lighting' XML' files have not worked.

Any help to resolve greatly appreciated,

Many thanks,

Gareth

@rui.wang

I seem to be having this problem as well (Inventor 2023.1) .  I have sent you an email with my design data.

Is there a fix for this yet?  I'm in an endless migration loop and the arrows to transfer styles are grayed out.

Thank you,

Joan

2023.1 did fix the issues. Check that you have permissions on the folders containing the styles library data. This was what caught me out when I was continuing to have issues with them staying Read Only or not migrating.

Could you please update the update of 2023.0.1 and then update to 2023.1? Now, please try again. Thanks a lot.

That worked. Thanks!

That along with the 2023.0.1/2023.1 updates worked. Thanks!

Hi! I am sorry that the issue repeats in 2023 unfortunately. This time is due to incorrect Weld style version. If you cannot wait for the fix, you may perform the following steps.

Close Inventor and go to File Explorer.

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2023\Bin\_NewStylesLibrary\Weld.xml

Edit the file in Notepad and change the version from 3 to 4. Save the change.

Many thanks!

Just a note Johnson. I am finding that this needs to be manually applied on every 2023 install I do to be able to use the tool.

The patches are not fixing this weld.xml.

Hi Ben,

I thought it was taken care of by the updates. Let me follow up with the project team to get a better understanding.

Many thanks!

Thanks Johnson.

I have had to change the weld.xml on several installs of 2023 even after patching lately.

While asking them, can you get someone to fix the Desktop App so it removes updates that are not required.. it's clearly not checking for previous patches that are covered by the latest, so it keeps bugging you to update.

Hi Ben,

I got better understanding of the situation. This particular fix is indeed in 2023.0.1. But, due to certain install related limitation, it is not included in 2023.1. To get the fix without manually modifying Weld.xml, you will need to install 2023.0.1 and then 2023.1.

Many thanks!

Just fixing the xml is easier.. however it would be great if we didn't need to jump through these hoops. 2023.1.1 should install the patches in order.

Even when you do go 2023.0.1 - 2023.1 - 2023.1.1 the App still asks you to install the previous patches which of course don't install.

Hi Ben,

Are you saying that installing 2023.0.1, 2023.1, and 2023.1.1 does not work? That sounds like a bug.

Many thanks!

Hi Johnson,

Not sure what you mean by "does not work" . The updates work, it's what the app shows that I was referring to in my second comment.

If you have a fresh install of 2023 and then apply 2023.1.1 only, the other two updates are still shown in the Autodesk App. If you try and apply those updates however it will tell you they are already installed.

If you apply them all in order, it seems to still do this.

A lot of people rely on the Desktop App to tell them when updates are pending.

Hi Ben

Regarding after installing Inventor 2023.1.1 Update, the previous patches 2023.0.1 also displays in Desktop App, as Johnson because there is a particular fix for weld.xml file is in 2023.0.1, but due to certain install related limitation, it is not included in 2023.1 and 2023.1.1, we plan to fix in in upcoming 2023.2 Update, so we will keep 2023.0.1 until 2023.2 Update release.

Regarding 2023.1 Update is also showing in Desktop App, this issue is already resolved, thanks for raising this issue, we will more take care of Update display in Desktop App in future.
