Hi All,
Have recently installed Inventor Professional 2023 and have used Style Library Manager to migrate the various standards.
All projects have their styles in 'Read/Write' state.
After migration I now have both the source and destination libraries in 'Read-Only' state. Please see below.
I know of the specific XML style file overwrite in previous versions, but replacing the 'Inventor Studio Lighting' and 'Lighting' XML' files have not worked.
Any help to resolve greatly appreciated,
Many thanks,
Gareth

Confirmed bug.
See the reply here from Johnson. 2022 had a similar issue, hence the discussion started then.

Many thanks for the replies, seems like it might be best to wait for a fix from Autodesk. That will teach me to get excited for new features and update on or near release day! 🤣

Yes, this was unfortunate. It was only reported against the 2023 Inventor Beta on the same day as it was posted here. I just see today that a fix is now being tested.
Thanks,
Chris

Hi! I am sorry that the issue repeats in 2023 unfortunately. This time is due to incorrect Weld style version. If you cannot wait for the fix, you may perform the following steps.
Close Inventor and go to File Explorer.
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2023\Bin\_NewStylesLibrary\Weld.xml
Edit the file in Notepad and change the version from 3 to 4. Save the change.
Many thanks!

Hi Johnson,
Many thanks for investigating this for me, I followed your steps and all the libraries are working again and are no longer read-only.
No need to be sorry, this is complex software and there will be occasional bugs in the pursuit of product advancement. 😀

Hi All,
I thought all was fixed until I opened a new mm part file and got the messages pictured below.
I have checked the various .xml files and they appear to reference the (ANSI-mm) standard.
Maybe there is something I have missed?
'R:/3. Inventor Design Data' is our network drive / folder location.
Any help greatly appreciated 😀

Apologies, the weld xml should be the one now attached.
Many thanks,
Gareth

Thanks for that.
The Read Only is gone but it seems to be stuck in a loop of asking to be migrated?
Apart from that it all works, no errors like Gareth is seeing. I assume that is a network drive issue.
Thanks for that.

This is Rui Wang from Inventor team. With these xml files which were provided by you, the error dialog can be reproduced on my side. Could you please share the original xml files with us for more investigation as this issue should be related to migration of customize styles? Here is my email, rui.wang#autodesk.com. You can reach me via it. Thanks a lot.
Thanks,
-Rui

We currently have the same problem.
The design data of the 2023 installation have not been migrated.
If we then migrate these ourselves via the manager, they are read-only!
Weld.xml is already version 4.
StudioLighting.xml checked as well (version 2016 problem)
Since there is no original, working and migrated 2023 designe data, a comparison is not possible.
Please urgently provide a complete, migrated design data for 2023, which is fully functional and can be edited in the manager. Maybe as upload here?
Thanks!

Hi
See post 6, it's the weld.xml in C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2023\Bin\_NewStylesLibrary\Weld.xml you're supposed to change, not the weld.xml in your own migrated design data.

We now managed to get the stilebibliothekmanager to work, after we compared all versions in
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2023\Bin\_NewStylesLibrary
with the original installed Data Standard in
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2023\Design Data
In our case
Standard.xml and SurfaceTexture.xml have had a wrong version, even after migiration.
You can ignore the migrate message loop. Once read only is removed it will work as usual and allow you to copy and remove styles.

What's the version of these two files (Standard.xml and SurfaceTexture.xml)? Could you please check the create info in the file content? If the file was created by Inventor 2023, '<!--Created by Autodesk Inventor Version 27.0 Internal-->' was in the xml file content. And do you have other Inventor version on same machine? If yes, please close it and restart Inventor 2023 version, do style migration via style library manager again. Please feel free to let me know if you have any more comments about this. Here is my email, rui.wang#autodesk.com, you can reach me via it. Thanks again.

Unsure if a new patch has broken this again. I am finding that I am getting stuck with even after migrating the styles the "Needs migration" stays and I cannot do anything past that.

No I can't sorry as it is not one set of Design Data.
This has happened on several clients PC's now so I am seeing a pattern with 2023.0.1
I also seem to need to clear the read only on the default Design Data to migrate it.
The next time I see this I will get a copy of the data.
