Student Trials

I am a student using Inventor 2016 on my home desktop.  The school has began using Inventor 2017.  Can I download a student trial of 2017 on my home computer?

Hi!

As a student, you can access any Autodesk software for free.

And yes you should absolutely be using the same version as your school as Inventor files are not backwards compatible..

So anything you created at school on 2017 would not open if you only had 2016 (without making it a dumb solid like stp files,etc.. and then the history tree/model browser would be gone too)

I recommend that you download the actual install files from here Autodesk Virtual Agent.

Be sure to get all three files.

... and once downloaded, back them (and service packs, hotfixes, serial number, and everything thing else related) up somewhere off your computer - external drive, USB stick, whatever.  That way if the computer gets stolen, damaged, needs reformatting, etc. you aren't starting from scratch.
