extrude text in block sketch

I have a logo containing free shapes and text. I want to extrude these to create a cut out in a sheet metal part. Works perfectly fine!

However I want to place the logo in a sketch block. This way the free form and text stay in the right position relative to each other while I move the logo over my sheet metal part to position it. Now the extrude does not seem to work anymore! The free form shape does extrude but the text does not.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi reneetoussaint,

Unfortunately that's just the way it works Smiley Frustrated (I'm not sure why?)

What you can do, is place the block as needed, then right-click on it and choose Explode.

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,

I would make the logo a sheet metal punch..

Then a single sketch point can be used to place it where you want easily..

And if done properly (custom parameters that show up in the size tab of the punch tool dialog box on placement) you can size it as needed too..

If it is not possible this certainly is a nice alternative. I am going to give it a try 🙂

The year is 2024, and text in blocks can still not be ekstruded. And exloding blocks is often denied.
