Hi everyone,
The manufacturer I work for would like to see the lowest "child" level components listed at the true total quantity in the structure bill of material that we use. Unfortunately I can't seem to figure out how to make this happen without some coding and likely a custom iProperty column. I wanted to see if there's another way to get the data to show up correctly before we go down this path of writing some custom code.
The screen shot below describes the essence of the issue. On some projects we build multiple quantities of the same units. I can pattern the components at my top level assembly. This gives me the correct multiplied quantity for the components/ sub-assemblies reporting 1 level down from my top level assembly. The problem is that this multiplier doesn't propagate down to the sub-assembly and children levels of the structured BOM. I have tried to explain how this works with manufacturing but they are adamant that they would like to see total quantities in the BOM down to the component level.
How do I get the top level BOM quantity to multiply down into the lowest level child parts/sub-assemblies so that on the drawings the true total quantity is shown at the part level? I have tried explaining that Inventor natively is showing you how many of something it takes to build (x1) of each sub-assembly but that you have to look at the next level up to determine how many are needed (where the pattern is occurring).
