Strange behavior when i right click in graphic window (Inventor 2018)

Sometimes when i right click in the graphic window and move the cursor before the menu appears it seems like i'm "drawing".

Screenshot and frame it ... Inventor Art ....

But yes this is a feature .... it's in 2017 too

junk.PNG

Think it's just some weird sketch up / tool that will fade away in seconds.. Think it's to circle something point it out ..   never understood why it was there ...or the purpose ...

Never was able to find anything in the AKN etc about it either

Really Michael?

The line is a visual aid when using the marking menu.
It's only supposed to come up when holding the right-mouse button and dragging toward the desired function of the marking menu.

The behavior in 2018 is a known bug and they are working on it.
It seems to tie in with the delay of the marking menu coming up in full when doing a single-right click, if you move before it's there you get to draw like this.

Any known way to turn it off until the fix comes?

I think disabling the marking menu might help, but not at a pc atm so don't know where that's done.

Hi Latrach,

This is a timing issue caused by upgrading a common UI component. We are aware of the issue and we are working on a fix targeting 2018 R1 update.

Many thanks!

We've recently updated our copies of Inventor Professional to run 2018.1.1 and the lines mentioned in this post have gone but there is still an issue with the use of the right mouse button. It seems to be a sensitivity issue and I'm posting here, assuming that the issues are related (so apologies if they're not), since we've only experienced this after the update.

All our users are experiencing the same issue when using the right mouse button where it selects a function from the menu from a single right mouse click, rather than a right mouse click to open the menu, then a second click (left or right) to choose the function we need. The function we're getting is always the one immediately next to the cursor after the right mouse click.

The function we get depends of course on relative position, so the nearer the cursor is to the top of the browser pane, the more likely we are to choose a function such as a repeat of the last command.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Hi Steve,

Another thread has similar comments. There still seems to be some sort of hesitance when right-click. It is not easily reproducible but it is noticeable. I will work with the project team to understand the behavior better and see what we can do. In the meantime, if the behavior bothers the users, you may consider turning off Marking Menu (go to View -> User Interface -> uncheck Marking Menu).

Many thanks!

Thank you for the workaround. It works.

If can be helpful to understand better the problem, i noticed that if you hold the right button the menu doesn't disappear selecting the option by mouse position but stay active.

It happens much more often in the model tree window.

I have the same behaviour. Short right mouse clicks are immediately selecting a nearest menu command to cursor. But looooong right mouse clicks are mostly working as usual.

Moreover, before I found this topic I've already resoldered right button in my favorite mouse 🙂 Tought that is a hardware problem at first... Waiting for a fix! I love marking menus and it is really sad to turn them off.

Same problem with too trigger happy right click in model tree area here and also reported by some of our customers. Really annoying.

Having same issue.  Updated to 18.1.2 yesterday, having a hard time with right-click.  A slow right-click is reliable but a fast (normal) right-click often becomes a double right-click, repeating last command.  Issue seems to come and go, will be fine for a while then I fight with it for a while.  Training myself to do slow right-click but that is not a good solution.

Hi Guys,

The issue is not fully resolved as of 2018.1.2 Update. We are working on a fix targeting 2018.2 Update (available for Beta testing on Beta site). In the meantime, if the behavior bothers you, please turn off Marking Menu (View -> User Interface -> uncheck Marking Menu).

Many thanks!

@johnsonshiue when can we expect 2018.2?

Kind regards,

Hi! Unfortunately, I cannot comment on when the Update will be available. Past update timing might be a good indication.

Many thanks!
