Step file converted into Assembly and simplified is not visible in Drawing

Hello everyone,

I have another problem you might be able to help me with.

I have imported a step file of a gearbox (the orange piece) and want to use it in my assembly (but as a part) 

so I have an entry in the Parts list.

I have simplified the assembly file so I can save it as part and used that simplified part in my assembly.

It is just not showing on the drawing. Is there anything I can do to show it so I can attach my balloon.

Maybe there is a better way to do this...

I am not sure I like the orange color that I have got after the simplifying...

Stitch or Sculpt the surface body into a solid body.

Or right click on the drawing view and select option to include surfaces.

You can change the appearance color to whatever you want.

If you cannot figure this out - Attach your surface body file here.

As said above, 'include surface bodies' will bring it into the drawing.

I always like to use stitch to convert it to solid. Basically, any surface model that is complete (i.e. no missing faces) can be stitched into a solid. The problem with parts downloaded like the one you show is that they often contain errors when they get translated and can't be stitched. Or they have faces missing that need to be patched and quite often they can't be patched either. 

You can right click on the surface in the browser and turn of transparency to get it to look like a solid, which I think you might have already done from the picture.

The sticking didn't work but I contacted the supplier of the file and they will hopefully give me another format.

See my post above for why it isn't working.
Quite often you just have to live with it.
The problem with these surface models though is that the files are massive.
If you can stitch them to solid you can save like 75% file size.
