Hi Guys,

In PDS 2012 this steps are working properly. Now, in PDS Ultimate 2018 it is not working.

1. Create a new part and Derive any part that has contour shape.

2. Create a new sketch on XZ Plane and Project Geometry ro create a rectangular sketch.

3. Create a Ruled Surface > Normal and select a contoured surface.

4. Now,extrude the Sketch to create a Solid objects.

5. Invoke Split Feature > Trim Solid > then select the Surface as guide. Click OK

NOTHING HAPPENS!!!!

Hi Willie,

The problem is reproducible for me.  It seems related to using the Ruled Surface as the split tool.  A work around is to create a zero-offset surface from the ruled surface and use that to do the split.  Make sure to turn off visibility of the ruled surface so it is not selectable during the split.

I’ll make sure a bug gets filed on this.  You should be able to split using the ruled surface directly.

Thanks,

Hi Willie,

Like Tom mentioned, this is a bug. There is no reason why Split should fail in this case. Interestingly, Split Part works. The intersection is clear and Ruled Surface is well defined. Another workaround is to use Sculpt command. You can use Sculpt Cut to remove the bottom portion using the Ruled Surface.

Many thanks!

Hi Guys,

Thank you for looking into the matter. Hope that this could be included on the Build Fix as, I am using this method frequently.

Hi Willie,

I would suggest you use Sculpt command to cut the body in the meantime.

Many thanks!
