SM1 Threading 1.035"-40

I want to design a part that will have SM1 internal threads which are used for mounting 1" optics. I could then use something like this SM1 retaining ring in my product.  POLARIS-SM1RR - Stainless Steel SM1 (1.035"-40) Threaded Retaining Ring

I can't select these options using thread or threaded hole (with HSM). Furthermore, I would need the machine shop/prototyper to be able to actually machine it. Does anyone know how to do this?

Hi rpirlo,

I don't think that's a standard thread, so you're not likely to find much on it. This link seems to indicate that it's a proprietery thread:

http://www.practicalmachinist.com/vb/general/1-035-40-optical-thread-187167/

This link indicates that if you call Thorlabs they'll provide the specs:

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis

SM05:nominal diameter is 0.5inch,and you can get  from the  figure : all thread  are 40 pitch per inch.

Hi there. I am really new to designing using CAD. I wanted to use the cad files provided by Thorlabs to visualize my setup using an optical breadboard and an appropriate bracket for the breadboard. Once I opened in the AutoCAD software I was really stuck regarding how to proceed from the 2D model provided. Could someone help me if you don't mind.

Thank You

@Anonymous

Are you using Inventor or are you using Fusion 360?

If Inventor, what version of Inventor?

Can you Attach the *.ipt file (or *.f3d) of your attempt here?
