sliding lever on attached to a fixed pin

Maybe this is ridiculous but I cant figure out how to describe this to ask the right question. I need to create a "joint"??? maybe in this assembly  where the point  of the lever you can see will slide while staying constrained to a bolt in the hole also seen. I know I have to open the hole laterally at the proper angles to facilitate the nut that will be there but I cant figure out how to get there. Any Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Guys........

You must also Attach the part files (*.ipt) when attaching an assembly file (*.iam).

I'm not sure you've attached the right parts. Or, maybe something got lost in translation? 

Your Part7 is not the Custom Stock Lever that the assembly wants to see. Forcing the resolution to Part7 makes the constraints come in funny - probably not what you intended 🙂

It's tough to decipher exactly what you're trying to do.

 

The safest way to post assemblies is using Pack and Go. This ensures that all the pieces come through properly.

You'll probably either want to setup a Tangent or Transitional Constraint, possibly creating surfaces to travel on. Attaching the parts will be much easier to point you in the right direction.

Hopefully this works? I tried the pack and go feature but it tried to attach a million files. I deleted the others so hopefully this will still work. I am still trying to figure out the file structure and automatic updating portions of this software so thank you for your patience. The assembly file that I need help with is called 08132018. Thank you again for your help

I'm not exactly clear what you're trying to do, so it's a little rambly, but yes, you can create joints and/or constraints to lock down the trigger relative to the body. I just show one possibility with constraints.

@Anonymous thanks for attaching the files, wanted to see if there was more information given from the setup you had.

 

Looks like you turned Adaptive off and moved the part around trying to figure it out. You might have better luck using Derive in the future depending on the design. 

To Create a Derived Part or Assembly

 

 

Make sure that all of you sketches are Fully Constrained. You will save yourself many headaches in the future.

 

If you turn off the Adaptivity I would recommend going back into the part and removing any other references, break Projected Geometry, and clean it up so that it is independent.

Thank you for your help. I do need the axial constraint on the holes there, I had that one. I like your way of doing the midplane constraint compared to my surface mate constraint. What I needd to do is the following. I will be placing a bolt and spring component into that hole in the stock to hold that lever in place. so the idea is, when that lever is squeeze toward the stock, the bolt and spring component will stretch adn pull a pin out of the hollow portion in the stock. allowing it to slide on another tube. Where the slide Ii asked about comes in, is that vertex just behind the hole in the lever component will have to slide a little bit on the stock as back of the lever is squeezed toward the stock so that the lower surface of the hole in the lever maintains the axis of the bolt and the hole in the stock. Now, THIS is kind of rambly... lol. Hopefully it makes sense, Im trying to find a youtube video of how the adjustable stock lever works on an AR 15 so that you can better see what Im trying to accomplish here.

Ok Kelly, that solves 99% of my prob and your demo was amazing. Thank you so much. Only 1 prob left, this movement you made is exactly what I need except I need to be able to actuate that lever with reference to the holes btx the 2 solids. There will be 1 bolt going through the 2 with a spring, etc so the lower face of the lever has a hole with which the actuation must stay constrained to in order to draw the sides with clearance throughout all positions during the movement. (also to create the hole with the correct angles to let the bolt head rotate in position. ... Can it be done?

There are more accurate ways to go about it with custom constraints and better modeling but attached is a generic way with what you already had. As the lever rotates, it will need to have some play in the hole to pop the spring pin out. You'll obviously have to figure out how the hinge joint is designed. 

 

 

The trick is to model within the assembly environment to project the geometry of the hole to the lever at the 20° angle. Use adaptive projections to grab the hole shape in that position to a 2D Sketch on the lever and then Break/Delete all Adaptivity and Constrain with Dimensions.

 

Within the prototyping phase dimensions and Fully Constrained sketches are still helpful so try to make sure to take each 2D Sketch at a time and dial in the dimensions to something that can be manufactured more easily.
