sketch flip flops if moving significant distance

hi guys,

i wonder if anyone has this annoying sketch flip-flop happen from time to time?

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-ideastation/sketch-flip-when-moving/idi-p/5891699

not a big deal usually, but on the rare occasion especially when the distance moved is proportionally significant then it can be rather painful.

cheers.

best regards,

After looking at the video and your image file. I wasn't able to repeat the issue. Could you expand upon what constraints or other commands you used to produce your results.

Here's what I did: Open default MM.ipt template, Created new sketch on XY plane, Panned over to the negitive X,Y and created to lines 5 mm log along the X and Y planes. I then dimension the length to be 5 mm for both.

I then tried the following: Moving the two lines by dragging the common point between the two.

I tried removing the default constraints of Perpendicular and Vertical and applied a Vertical and Horizontal constrants.

Lastly I tried the move command.

All had the same results as the sketch didn't flip.

This was all done using Inventor 2016 SP1

If possible can you post the file so we can look to see if any setting were changed from the default setting.

Thanks my friend. The drag / move wont show the issue. Try a coincident constraint. The thing must translate a distance further than its own footprint so that inventor has an opportunity to prioritise the element move & neglect other sketch relationships.
