Setting to save model in home view automatically?

Hi all, I work with Inventor and vault, and my designs will be used by many others in my team. 

I don't have the habit of moving my model to home view before saving my files, which will be a bit annoying for some of my colleagues when they open my models and they're in some weird zoomed in view. 

Is there any setting I can change such that it saves the model in home view automatically? I see no situation where I'd ever want to save my file in any view other than that. If I recall correctly, solidworks does this as a default.

I had the same problem as you do now, I tried an iLogic and set rules for it, it work perfectly.

But the main problem is if you are using Vault, this method is troublesome because it will ask you to check in/out continuously and I had to give up this method.

So starting a new habit: Pressing F6 after you model or modify parts is the only option (for me now)

I've had the habit of putting my models in home view for like forever now, but i think it's not necessary if you have this setting activated in the iproperties of your template files:

(i'm assuming this works properly since co-workers that don't have the habit are not generating non-isometric thumbnails)

Hi there, 

That setting is already activated in my inventor and works great to save thumbnails in vault or windows explorer in the home isometric view. However, when opening the file itself, it opens up in whatever last orientation I had it in (also if it was sectioned etc, it saves it exactly as that). Would love if inventor could allow all saved files to be saved in home view, end section view.

Ah, yes... that it doesn't do...

Agree, it would be nice tho have a setting in the file open options for home view.

My parts and assemblies mostly (but not entirely) open in home view, just as you are asking.  The problem is, I don't know what setting makes that happen... ?

Slightly different idea. Have an ilogic script change to Iso view when opening the file. Add the following to an illogic scrip that is trigger After Open Document. Also found the end section view command.

ThisApplication.CommandManager.ControlDefinitions.Item("AppIsometricViewCmd").Execute
ThisApplication.CommandManager.ControlDefinitions.Item("AssemblyEndSectionViewCmd").Execute

Note switching the view does not dirty the file, but ending the section view does dirty the file and prompts for save when closing.

Hi Folks,

There isn't a setting to make it happen automatically. I vaguely remember there was a change in behavior a while back. In older releases, all Inventor parts or assemblies were open in Home View automatically. But, we got negative feedback and the behavior was changed to be consistent with the Design View camera angle.

To set the camera angle, right-click on the Design View -> Camera View -> Save Current Camera. After that, whenever the file is opened (depending on the Tools -> App Options -> File -> File Open Default), the camera view for the Design View will be honored.
