Having trouble saving a 3rd party assy file where i want to. Can't do a save as and put where need it to be. It will not let me change my location even if i create a project file with the location that i want. I had no problems with 2018 verison but cannot figure out in 2021 verison.

Is there an error message or something you didn't attach?

What is it that you are trying to do that you think isn't happening correctly?

Did someone just send you an Inventor iam file and the associated ipt files or is this a solidworks assembly or something else? Can you walk through what you got and what specifically you have done so far and where specifically you are trying to save the files.?

Maybe recording a screencast of your entire process will allow us to spot the problem best..

Opening a stp file and just try to save all the parts from the assy in the
location that I open the file from. In 2018 I could open a stp file from
it's current location and it would save directily to where I opened the file
from. Once I downloaded 2021 It saves it to the user location file and not
from where I opened the file. there is no error just want the initial save
in the same location as where I opened the file.

Hi! I don't believe there is a change in this behavior. I think you probably use a non-Default project on 2021 but the Default project on 2018 or vice versa. If you use the same project, the behavior should be consistent.

Many thanks!
