Replicating/pattern extruded features along surface of non-geometric shape

Hi, I am trying to make a mask. yes, sorry for adding one to the list. I have been trying to figure out a way to replicate/pattern extruded features along the surface of the non-geometric shape of the mask. Please help!

Goal:

  1. To replicate/pattern extruded features along the inner surface of the mask
  2. Adding about 2 more rows of the pattern above.

I guess it's a pretty straight forward question. Hopefully, it's a pretty straightforward task. Attached a sample STEP File.

HAPPY NEW YEAR & THANKS, A BUNCH IN ADVANCE!!!

Hi! This can be done fairly easily using surface modeling technique (see attached part). First, create a zero-offset surface from the tube. Extend both ends a bit. Pattern the surface along the seam edge. Stitch them together. Lastly, use Sculpt to attach the surface to the body.

Many thanks!

Hey @johnsonshiue ,

Thanks for the reply!

But I wanted to pattern it like the pic on the right, hahaha.Mask.jpg

Hi! I think the workflow is similar. I guess you need to create parallel workplanes from top. Then create 3D intersection curves. Pattern the the surface along the intersection curve.

Many thanks!

Hey @johnsonshiue,

I've tried but the extrusion ends up halfway offset into the mask itself. I think it's because I reference the edge of the mask instead of the actual path of contour to the extrusion. But I get I can project cut the mask at the sections the extrusions will be.
