We use Inventor 2023.4 for design, and then the models are exported to STEP format. We have noticed that if we use the "replace" function to replace parts/assemblies in an assembly file, the name in the design tree remains unchanged (even though the part/assembly parameters are correct).
If we don't notice this discrepancy, misleading information appears in the STEP format—showing a different part name that is not as it should be. To solve this, before exporting, we use the "rename browser nodes" function, but if we have multiple files, it takes quite a long time to update the information and present it correctly. Moreover, it is a manual task that can be easily forgotten, leading to errors on the assembly line.
My questions:
But I would say the first question is more relevant, as it would address the cause, not just the consequences.

Try to rename the parts to the default instead of the filename. Then it should update when you replace with a new part. Anything except for the default it sees as an override and it will never change an override when parts are replaced. You could maybe set up an iLogic rule to make sure this is done before saving as a step file.
