Rename Browser Nodes bug

I attempted to rename browser nodes in a large (2203 components, 5410 instances) assembly, with the top-level assembly checked out from Vault Workgroup, and some (but not all) mid-level assemblies/bottom-level components checked out as well. The process partially completed, then froze -- attempting to close (either with "click the X in top right" or "click the 'Close' button" or "press Alt+F4") the dialog gives an alert message "Unable to properly terminate the selection". No other windows (meaning the main window) in Inventor are able to be interacted with.

Hi! Yes, I believe there is a bug here. Try this and see if it helps. Activate LOD: Master. Then rename the names. Does it work better now?

Many thanks!

Hi Johnson,

I found the same error message at a customer.  They work with Vault and LOD has no effect on the error message.

Is this any new functionality in 2020.4.2? If you run a rename in an assembly that contains a non-write subassembly, an error is displayed.

Thank you.

Hi Milan,

This might be a different issue, though the error message is the same. I am not aware of another workflow leading to the same error. If possible, please share the files here or send them (zipped) to me johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I suspect there could be corruption.

Many thanks!

After update Inventor 2024.2 to build 272

Could't rename browser node by part number in a assembly because of grey apply button.

Found the reason : one part supppressed in a component pattern in a sub-sub-sub assembly.
