Removing trailing zeros from Parts List

Hi everybody,

Do you know how can I remove the trailing zeroes from a parts list? I mean, I want to remove all the trailing zeroes for all parts in the parts list. So far I found out that I can manipulate that by changing the Custom Property Format for every part from my model (see the pictures attached). That's great for few parts. But, when my assembly contains 100 Frame Generator components do I really have to change that property for every single one of them? Or, is there some way I can change all that whit one "click"?

Thank you,
Georgi

Another possible option without a file

Trailing zeros are removed, but nothing happens. The parts are created with Frame Generator if that matters.

Hi! I could be wrong but I thought there was a bug like this fixed on the latest 2020 update. To check, please share the files here so forum experts can help take a look.

Many thanks!

Deal,

I share a "pack & go" archive of my project. Check it out. The files and file names are a little bit messy, but it is still in progress.

Hi! I am not able to reproduce the issue on 2018.3. Could you take a look at the attached file?

Many thanks!

That's great, it works. But, how did you manage to fix the issue? In my case, simply removing the trailing zeros from Parts List properties does nothing (the trailing zeros remain there).

Hi! I did not do anything special. I just created the PartsList in the drawing. Then I enabled Column Substitution. Are you using comma as decimal point?

Many thanks!

Yes, do I have to use point instead?

Hi! I did try using German Locale and DIN template. I am still seeing the correct result. I am not sure where the problem is. Could you share the drawing file here?

Many thanks!

It worked with me as well, but there is an other issue.
If I use the Default Formatting, then I can not turn off the trailing zeros. When I switch to Apply Units Formatting, I am able to change the precision and trailing zeros, but the "mm" unit apply to all items in the column. Including the items that are just number of items (in my case items 13, 14, 16...). As an attached file you will also find a Pack & Go archive of my project with drawing included.

Hi! I guess you will need to override those cells. You have a mixed unit column. The column substitution workflow does not handle data like that well.

Many thanks!

I'm having the same problem and i've tried to solve it in different ways, but got the same results.

The fact is that "out of the box" inventor can display mixed unit columns in the part list, the problem is that there is no simple way in removing the ".000" - say like a drop down list where you can choose the option you need .

I've said a "simple way" because I think that there might be a workaround (like a iLogic rule), but this option should be there.

Have a nice day!

I found the solution, if there are any other persons interested in this.
For any of the Frame Components (I'm talking about the profiles used to create the frame), you will need to make some changes to the part list template that you are using.

If you change it like this, it should work.

Now you should have dual units in the part list.

Hope it helps.

Have a nice day!

Hi @razvan-campian

Could you explain further how you got that result.

What is the value G_L & where did you create it?

Hi! To help facilitate the discussion, you may want to share the files here. Depending on the source of the property, trailing zeros may or may not be removed.

Many thanks!

Hello arkelec.
The G_L value it's an "User parameter" that is allready defined in the Frame members (beams, channels....).
So you don't need to create anything, just set the Part List as showned in the images from my previous pots.
In the first image you can see the settings that I've made to the Part List template;
in the second one (the one with the black background) you can see the result of the settings in a part list from a drawing.

Have a nice day and good luck!
