piping analysis via Inventor

Hi,

I did a pipe routing in AutoCAD Plant 3D and want to do stress and thermal analysis via Inventor. Would you please help me how can I import the piping system to the Inventor in a way that I would be able to mesh it and apply stress and thermal analysis?

I know that I can use the import option when I want to open the DWG file, however, I don't know which conditions will lead to having a suitable format to be used in Inventor.

Thanks.

You can't do  athermal analysil in Inventor.

You can do it with Nastran In Cad

Hi! Matteo is right. Inventor Pro does not have a solution to do that by itself. You need Inventor NASTRAN (as part of Product Design and Manufacturing Collection).

Many thanks!

Thank you @johnsonshiue  and @admaiora ,

I do use Inventor Nastran which is a plug-in in Inventor Pro. My problem is how can I import piping system in a way that I could have a pipe instead of a solid part which is not hollow?

Now, I edit the piping system and make a shell with the amount of a pipe wall thickness and then mesh it and solve it. Is it a correct approach?

I'm wondering is there any way to import an exact piping lay out as what I have in Plant 3D?

Thank you.

Hi! I am sorry I am confused. How did you get the pipes? Did you use Inventor Tube&Pipe environment to create it? Or, you got it from other sources?

Many thanks!

Sorry @johnsonshiue ,

I thought you have read my first question.

I generate piping routing by Plant 3D and import it to Inventor to be able to use Inventor Nastran for stress analysis.

The imported piping lay out is a solid instead of pipe (i mean it is not hollow). I have to edit any single part and generate a shell resembling a pipe.

I'm wondering is there any way to have a real pipe when I'm importing the pipe from Plant 3D?

(PS: I do use exporttocad command)
