Rectangular Pattern Within Boundary Sketch

Hi,

I'm using the 3d model rectangular pattern within a boundary sketch in Inventor 2025,

Can someone explain why this pattern is not working. You can clearly see that the feature geometry is within the bounding sketch. I've created a circle sketch, extrusion cut, circular pattern then pattern x and pattern z within the highlighted boundary. I thought this would be a straightforward process. Feedback would be much appreciated.

Cheers

I have changed the hole from 3/4 to 3/8, X pattern seem to work and is bounded. When I try to patten Z I get a failed pattern

Hi

When you duplicate using the pattern of Circle Pattern, the object being defined (and therefore duplicated) is the circle pattern, not the circle itself. So if the Pattern doesn't fit in the boundary, it won't be duplicated at that location.

In summary, your modeling method is wrong. Change the way you model the part.

How would you suggest populating holes for a heat exchanger tube sheet with a triangular pattern ?

This is a regular rectangular pattern. The only issue is that one direction has an angle of 60 degrees, not 90 degrees.
