Recently having created various inventor ipt and idw drawings and not realizing that it is better to create a project ipj
file first i would now like to move these file into the project but how is this possible ? do i rename them all into the new project,can i drag them into the new project using explorer,what is the best way.

I am assuming you are getting when you open these files a message that comes up saying these files are not in the working folder. The working folder is set within the MP file. You should be ok in just moving them using Windows Explorer. Then once moved you wont see that message any more.

Thanks for the advice, i am pretty sure that i tried this, however i will give it another go,i suppose that the alternative is to generate a new project and re-create the assy drawing using the ipt parts.

As long as the parts did not change name you can copy the parts, assembly, and drawings to a new project folder.
Then in the project manager, create a new project, name it, and choose the directory where you put the files as the projects directory.
Then activate the project (if not already active)
Now you should be able to open your assembly, parts, and drawings with no problems.
