Problem with split surface on curved surface

Hello,

I get this error when i try to split a letter to thicken it.

Create parting line failed
BEKI_Zool_T4_REV02.ipt: Errors occurred during update
Split43: Could not build this Split
The selected curves for the Split Face operation did not fully intersect the faces to be split. Try with different inputs.

It works the other side with the same letter but in mirror but on this side not. And i don't know why.

The outer line of the B is split but the inner 2 lines are not possible.

Anyone any idea what i can change?

I am sure your images mean a lot to you because you are familiar with your geometry, but I do not see any usable information.

My first question would be, "Why do you have to Split to use Thicken?"

Second question, "Can you Attach you file here?"

@JDMather

I need to thicken the letter with 0.5 mm but the surface is in an 1 degree angle and also curved. It is the shape of a shoe sole. I can not upload the file because its under nda. How can i thicken this letter without using split and then thicken?

Thabk you for your fast reply. If you need the file i will see if i can reprodice this area and send this to you?

Can you use Direct Edit to move the face .5mm?  That should preserve the draft angle and the curved face.

Why did you create 3D Sketch25?

Why not use the 2D sketch - Sketch57 to do the Split(s).  (See Attached)

The difference is all but imperceptible and certainly not manufacturable.

I mean that i want the letter 0,5 mm thick everywhere. And because the side
is 1° the thickness will not be even over the whole letter. Thats why i use
3D skets with project to surface.

But i don't understand why all the other letters are working but the B on
the one side not.

I still don't understand. Did you examine the file that I attached?

Split Face is split face, whether you do it with a 3D sketch or you do it with a 2D sketch.  Thicken is thickness.

Now i see and i understand! I indeed don't need a 3D sketch! Thank you so much i'm searching for hours. Also i tried with emboss but this also doesn't work.
