Problem dimensioning hole on a drawing.

I'm having trouble dimensioning a hole in certain a instance.

I have a drawing with a BSP socket welded over a hole in a panel. But - when I pick the hole it dimensions the hole in the BSP fitting not the hole behind it in the panel.

The actual hole line is hidden by the fitting. Is there a way around this apart from making hidden lines visible so I can then choose the correct line?

I don't know about standards where you're from.

But where I am from, it's not allowed (if you follow standards) to set dimensions to hidden lines.

I would either do a section view or view the assembly from the other side if that's possible.

I have used a bit of a cheating way round this. If your part is an assembly with the fitting inserted, select the view then turn off the visibility of the fitting. You can then dimension the hole & after that, turn on the visibility of the fitting.

I ended up doing the same.
