How could they? You are viewing the part file name in the browser.

Hi, @glen_fabatech,

In your image, they are part numbers. Part number is not change when children parameter changes, if you want to change the part number, there are many ways to do so.

One it leverage design assistant to rename the part or just open the part, save as to the right part file with the right part number setting.

Hope it helps!

Sorry I was in mobile mode and couldn't post the following info, so my first reply was a little short and not useful..  Smiley Sad

Notice your browser or the following image, you are looking at the file name of the structural since you can see the .ipt extension

If I change the part number of that given structure, my assembly browser doesn't update.

You need to use the rename browser node function located under the assembly productivity tools (Assemble Ribbon tab)

I understand that part, if I make a angle part 30 inches long and use it as a template for other lengths the only part number updating is the properties part number  now I have a thousand parts with the description as a L 2 x 2 x 3/16-30 on all parts even if I change the length
