Print without background

Hi,

Cannot find "transparent background" or similar option when sending directly from workspace to printer..

Is it hidden in the printer options? This is what I get when selecting the "Print" from Inventor menu:

    

But on the other machine running SW there is a background option:

There is no option to turn off background directly.  But if you change your Application Options > Colors > Background to 1 Color (other choices are Gradient and Background Image), the background will not print.

Tried this, it works!

But:

- It changes the background in the whole workspace not only for printing.

- Not so related, but you might know: the resolution is very bad on the printed page, is there an option to select resolution for printing?

Inventors abilities to print the display area is basic at best..

Really no "options" at all..

Depending on exactly what you are trying to do there may be better options.. (raytracing/saving out an image,etc...) or using Studio environment,etc..

From Studio you can set an Alpha channel.

Yep,

Tried to avoid extra step of saving the picture first. Most of the time I need to quickly print the part/assembly view at the production environment, sometimes not having the ability to save the picture on the machine (production have read-only restrictions).

Here's a quicker way to do it if you normally use a gradient background. 

1) Go to application options > Color > Customise Schemes

2) Pick a scheme you don't normally use

3)Set all the background colours to white

Now, when you want to take a shot, you just pick that background and you don't need to change it to '1 color' setting because the gradient fades from white to white. 

Export your shot

Switch your color back to your normal gradient scheme.

I haven't tried your steps, but wouldn't that result in a white background?

Maybe I misunderstood the true intent of this thread (i.e. print without background).

Never mind.  The question is about printing.

There's also a "screenshot tool" in the apps store that has a "white background" option.
I don't have any experience with this plugin so i don't know how well it works, but might be worth looking into.

Prior to 2019 you can get the colour schemes by installing the Inventor SDK. 

It's the installer called 'user tools'

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor <version>\SDK

It won't appear in the application options though, you have to run it from the folder in Windows Explorer.

Makes sense, because who would want to print the layout without the background, right?

Does anybody already works with 2022?

i Do but the background will be printed also when de background color is set to 1 color.

that previous solution worked for me last years bus something has changed.

Anyone with a "new" solution?
