Pipe and tube route dimension

Hi

When I create  a route in pipe and tube environment, the cursor did not show the dimension when I drag the cursor.

See the image below, Please let me know how to make visibility.

Can you show a screenshot of your issue...  Are you go further than the route line?   @cbenner any other thoughts?

I was think of heads up display is not enabled but since you never indicated the HUD is not working while sketching I assumed that was ok.

In your image, the dimension IS showing.  When you route, do you not see this?  Do you see an "X" on the sketch guideline?  If so, check your Tube & Pipe style and see what your minimum pipe length is.  Sketch dimensions on a route will not show up until you drag the mouse to at least the minimum allowed pipe length.

Are you using Inventor 2019.2?    I just did it with that version and I no longer see the dimension either..

@cbenner are you using Inventor 2019.2?

Hi Mark and Chris,

If I understood OP's question correctly, it is about the ability to see the length display when the cursor is outside of minimum length axis. It seems to be a designed behavior. I guess the minimum length in the active Tube&Pipe Rule is too small. You may want to increase the minimum value to a greater value. So, the minimum length axes are longer.

Regarding the bugs in 2019.2, every release and every update have bugs. But, somehow the perception of quality differs. Some vocal users here claimed that every release and every update were worse than the prior ones. But, we have quite a few large customers stay current moving to 2019.2 without issues. 2019.3 update just went live today. It should address most of the known regressions in prior updates.

Many thanks!

 Hi Kiri,

I am sorry I misunderstood your request. I think the length display is controlled by HUD option. Go to Tools -> Application Options -> Sketch -> Heads-Up Display -> check "Enable Heads-Up Display."

Many thanks!

@johnsonshiue

Although I'm not disputing the HUD settings (which I thought was the case in the beginning), there seems to be an issue here in Inventor 2019...

2018-12-17_21-32-22.jpg As you can see my T&P style min dim is 2in

2018-12-17_21-32-51.jpg  When I start my route (centerline), you can see no dimension is shown.   In the past at least in Inventor 2018 the route node placement the dimension was shown.

2018-12-17_21-33-03.jpg  As you can see my node placement is more than 2in

2018-12-17_21-33-29.jpg And the application options regarding HUD are enabled.

If I go back to Inventor 2018 and use the same T&P style the routing node dimension shows up

I stripped Inventor 2019.2 --> 2019.1 --> 2019 (testing between each stage) and the routing node dimension never appears like in Inventor 2018.

@cbenner are you using Inventor 2019?

From what I read in the readme for Inventor 2019.3, there's internal issues that's been fixed and there's nothing new for this release.

Hi

1. I have tried with inventor 2018 version it works  well and it automatically shows the value during route.

2. When I try an exercise from Ascent I found that Select other snap is not working and the inventor freezing for few seconds in 2019.

Need to be fixed !

Hi Guys,

I am using 2019.2 and 2019.3. I am not seeing the issue regarding the length dimension display on creating a new route. I need to take a closer look.

Many thanks!
