Pattern hole along irregular shape

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

I have an irregular tapered lofted shape (see attached) and I am trying to create patterned holes all the way round in four rows (see attached drawing). The shape is hollow and the holes must go through to the inside surface. I apologise if this is simple but I can't work out how to do it! I am new to the forum and would appreciate some guidance.

Kind Regards,

Luke

While you wait for someone to take a look at your file - I recommend that you install Update 4 for 2019.

Hi! This should be fairly straight forward. You need to create multiple parallel workplanes from the top or the bottom. Then create a 3D Sketch > Intersection Curve -> pick the work plane and the Loft body. These curves can be used for patterning. Create one of the hole. Then use Rectangular Pattern command -> select the hole -> select the 3D curve as direction. Please feel free to attach your attempt, if you cannot figure it out.

Many thanks!
