Pattern Feature around closed loop

 Hi,

My first post so bare with me.

I'm currently trying to pattern a cut feature around the outer profile of a belt like design.

I am trying to copy a process that i got from a belt drive video on YouTube I watched a wee while ago.

I've had this work before but came back to it after awhile of modelling something else and can't get it to work.

I'm not sure if it's because I have stolen the path sketch from a sweep feature from the outer profile.

It also wont let me select a start point, i've even tried adding a work point but the same thing happens.

I've attached screenshots of what is going on and how I am trying to do it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The images are very poor quality.

Can you attach the actual *.ipt file here?

Nice one, thats what im looking for. Thank you very Much!!!

is it possible to do this with angled features?

I've attached the .ipt with the feature i want to follow the same path.

I've tried setting perpendicular planes but it still doesn't like it.

Apologies for changing the goalposts
