Pattern along path at specyfyed points

Hi

I like to pattern a feature (or sketch/blocks if possible) along a path BUT at predefined points.

Immediately its only possible to use "Spacing", "Distance" or "Curve length".

I like to pattern it at certain point so that the distance varies according to where its critical.

L1 different from L2 different from L3...and so on.

Question:

  1. Is it possible to pattern along a path at spycyfied points ?
  2. Is it possible to pattern Sketches/Blocks
    We use Inventor 2024

Hi!

1 - No, it´s not possible. Only possible divide the path with equal branches.

2a - It's possible to pattern sketches/blocks in 2D sketches, but what you're showing is like a 3D sketch and there's no pattern in 3D sketches.

2b - If you have different sketches (path and other sketche/blocks), you cannot pattern the sketches, only features, solids, etc.

Tip: Maybe you can turn your block into a surface, and then pattern the surface.

Tip2: if you cant do it in one pattern, create several patterns to each situation.

not possible in a sketch

Even if you use surfaces, and use the pattern sketch, you will have another issue: it will no follow the path direction...

Have been using sketch driven patterns a lot since... Inventor 2019(?). And it works quite well until you are trying to follow a path all the way around as you just have shown. Since some member of the pattern tends to flip.

Works apparently well here since flipping isn't possible to see since the member is symmetric to the path. I would be surprised if  it worked with a non-symmetric member.

Long known bug, but no fix in the horizon.

Hi! The flipping behavior is indeed a bug. We are working on a fix but unfortunately the fix cannot be retro-fitted. It will be available in the future release only.

Many thanks!
