PATH CONSTRAINT?

Anonymous

I'm trying to eventually make a couple pins track in a couple slots.  The slots can curve, etc.

I thought the easiest way to set it up would be constrain the hole centers to the sketch, but I can't get it to work.

Can anyone point me in the right direction, like what type of constraint it should be?

Thanks!

It Deppends your intent.

You can use dimentional constrains and/or geometric constrains.

Whats not working?

Ok, deleting the part are reinserting it into the assembly and now it works:  buggy.. great.

There seems no way to tell it which side of the slot to follow.  I made one run at it and it was tracking on the outside of the slot.

I just want it to work.  Any functional way is fine.  Can you be more specific.  If I have a sketched curve and I want a hole centerline to follow it, do I need to sketch a center point on the hole or something?  Thanks

TBD.  I need to get the motion before I can fill in all the details.  The constraint should work with an empty hole, no?  I appreciate the help guys.. frustrated over here.

Ok, I at least got the transitional working.  It needed the positive of the pin, not the hole.  SW has point path which is nice.  I'm not sure if inventor can do that.

Thanks!!

is that a constraint that will stick around or just an animation you can run?

Thanks
