Parts disappearing when applying constraints

This has only recently became an issue.  When I am working in my model and applying a constraint to a new part, it zooms off to where ever.  Normally, the constraint is applied and the part is still in my current view.  Is there a setting for this?  I am having to isolate the part so I can figure where it is and then locate where I need it.

Hopefully this makes some sort of sense.

thanks in advance!

Hi Tim,

Likely there is a part or a piece of geometry located very far away from the origin. Try hide all parts except the two constraint participating components. Measure the distance between each part and the origin.

Many thanks!

Hi @tim.schroeder3K47N

Does the assembly have sick constraints? I have seen this happen when you apply constraints and there is conflicting constraints it would disappear only to reappear after a rebuild all etc? Perhaps the constraint applied is not what you expected.

If all else fails, a workaround is to ground the part, then apply your constraints (yes Inventor will complain but ignore it) and then unground your part.

if it helps, an easier way to find the part that is lost in the infinite 3D space is to select it from the model browser and then press the "End" key, it will find and zoom on it automatically.

I didnt know if there was a parameter/setting that would affect this behavior.  I appreciate everyone's input...back to work!

Thanks
