Part files moved into a created folder within the Browser

Maybe there is something obvious that I am missing, but....

When I create a new folder in the Browser within an assembly to move numerous part files into, it reverses their numerical order.

It descends their order and I cannot sort them. I highlighted the new folder to see if there is a sort command, but I see nothing.

In my attached jpeg you can see 1- 9 and so on are part of what was moved, but are reversed numerical order.

372 and on have not yet been moved into the folder.

Thoughts?

Hi, have you tried running from the Alpha Sort components assembly?

You should be able to sort the components inside and outside the folders in the browser.

The most recently added part to a folder is added at the top of the list..

So if you drop 1 then 2 then 3 then 4 you will see

If you drop 4 then 3 then 2 then 1 you will see

As stated Alpha Sort tool will put them in order top down again..

The green process bar crunches along, with no result.

Alpha sort does not work selectively.. It reorders EVERYTHING in the model browser at one shot..  

If its not working at all then there is some "file specific" problem and you should post your entire dataset/assembly (and all ipt files) if you wish to proceed. 

At the very least please download Autodesk screencast and create one showing you using the alpha sort function so we can see what if anything its doing and potentially spot an issue.

So based on my just now experience I would avoid that "Alpha Sort" tool..

Its quite buggy and has a bad memory leak,etc..

I just used it on a 1200+ part assembly and it was just chugging along for 10+ minutes just eating up more and more and more RAM.

I had to End Task on it

Shift select starting from the last item to the first, then drag and drop. I believe it places them in order at that point.
