Hello all. I am evaluating Inventor for a few things. One of the things I am really interested in is the frame generator. I was able to get that all working with custom profiles and such. My question is, how can I do something like the frame generator for non-frame parts?
Essentially, once we build a frame (think 40x40 aluminum extrusion), sometimes we want to add windows to the frame. To do this, we use a 2 piece plastic profile that snaps into the frame, the plastic window goes in and then a second piece snaps to the first. These plastic profile pieces however could be any length, depending on the build. I looked into iParts, but that doesn't seem practical for the essentially infinite lengths we could generate in designing a frame.
Ideally, it would be something like selecting 2 faces to specify the length of the piece, and then an edge to specify the insertion point and the piece would be put in place, at the correct length. Another thing to note, is that there is also a corner piece that goes in each corner.
Anyone have an idea or avenue I could look into possibly accomplishing this?
