Paint allowance in Autodesk Inventor 2015

Hi

Does anyone know if its possible to add a 0.5mm powder coat allowance over selected parts. At present im working with mild steel and I need to take into account the fact powder coat will reduce tolerances

Hi!

You can add the thickness to represent the powder coat.

If you chose multibody, you will have the coat and the part.

Multi-body is simply part of the feature creation process.

Select Thicken and the New Solid option of Thicken (or Extrude, or Sweep, or....)

Another technique is to Derive Component as a Surface Body and then Thicken.
