open profile error can't revolve or extrude

I am not able to sketch a shape, then extrude or revolve it. I ge the orange glow like it tries to show sketch converting to 3D but message states something about open profile in sketch.

I even drew a triangle and purposely over drew the line segments in 2D sketch and still got the same error. they look fully intersected not sure why this has happened

thanks

If you RMB in the sketch ... you can use the Sketch Doctor and it will tell you if you have errors ...and where

Most likely  you have inadvertently turned of inferred constraint persistence.

Attach an example *.ipt file here and end all doubt.

Hello again, yes, I just uploaded a simple square I drew in 2d sketch, but it won't extrude or revolve.  I am thinking a setting is messed up.  I also noticed that my cursor doesn't snap to the center x, y origin and turn bright green anymore.  What do you think I have done? I'm pretty new with Inventor, so appreciat any support you can give me.

Thanks again,

Rob

Holy cow you genious!  You were right!  I had accidentally turned off a constraint persistence.  Not sure how or why, but that was it.  I had to place a check mark to select all the constraints in the sketch menu under the "Constrain" option at the top of the menu, then selected "Constrain Options" and had to make sure that ll the choices were selected "Example:  horizontal, vertical, parallel, perpendicular, etc."

Thanks a lot for the suggestion, it saved me.

Mike,

Thanks again for your help, I am new to the forums, not quite sure of how to ask and get help.  I appreciate your advice.  I'll click on Kudos to close out the problem.

Hey, do you know of any way that Autodesk could come to support new teachers who are teaching Inventor to students?  I just started teaching and would love to have a pro show me or the class some "tricks".

Thanks,

Rob

I have approached Carl Bass on this topic a couple of times and his response was, "Let's do this....", but then nothing subtantial happens.

The attached (older) document might help.  Hard to believe that I wrote that 8 yrs ago.
