Old Version File Won't Open

Hi,

I've created a part in Inventor 2016 student version. The part was saved in OldVersions (accidentally) and when I try to open it now, it says that it won't open. "Open of non-versioned files is not allowed from the OldVersions directory. Open of (FILENAME), and any associated files, will be aborted."

Why is this? I can open other files that are stored in the same folder, but not this one. Is there a way to open it and edit it?

Please help!

Welcome to the Autodesk User's Community..

The OLDVESION folder is your backup in case something happens.  However you really can't save files in there because Inventor has internal code when working with files in the OLDVERSION folder.  The reason you can open existing files in there is because Inventor knows the "master" file is in the folder above it.  Open Windows Explorer and move the file you saved in the incorrect location to the correct folder location.
