NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error

I'm a new user to Inventor (working with it for about 2 months) and this has happened to me twice in the last 3 days on two different versions of Inventor (R10 & R11) and two different assemblies. Here's the story...

While working in a .iam file, the computer halts everything and pops up with a "blue screen of death" and the message is as follows...

***Hardware Malfunction
Call your hardware vendor for support
NMI: Parity check / Memory Parity Error
*** The system has halted***

The only way out of this screen is to do a forced shut down (press and hold the power button). Upon booting up the machine everything seems fine. I have a decent machine that's less than a year old. Anybody know why this is happening?

Possbily a faulty ram chip. www.memtest86.com should confirm this.
Forward the info to Dell tech support if your ram has errors

Yes, I've often seen this behaviour with the M70.
It's a graphics driver issue. Installing this driver

will solve the problem.

Thanks Mike! That seems to have done it; albeit I have no real way to verify. I tried to re-create it but have been unsuccessful so far. I hope it stays that way! 🙂

Thanks again!

We have this happening to "multiple" M70's and all issues seem to stem "after" SP1 for Inventor 11. All of which are using the nVidia 1440go cards. Memory Checks out good, I have a feeling that the issue is with instructions being sent to the lower memory address on the card itself. We have tried the newer "certified" drivers from Dell/AutoDesk and have been faced with the same issue. Again we have never had these issues in the past and it is only occurring on multiple M70's with the 1440go cards installed. Also the issue "only" seems to appear when the users are working in Inventor. Mechanical, Architectural and other AutoDesk products do not seem to have this BSD effect on the machines in question.
