Intel Core i9 14900K vs Intel Core Ultra 9 285K for Inventor

Do any of you build experts want to weigh in on this?  I need to spec a few more machines for Inventor.  Should I expect a significant performance difference between an Intel Core i9 14900K processor vs an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor?

I probably should have made this question more broad:  how do the new Intel Core Ultra processors compare to the "old" Core i.x series?  The gaming community seems to suggest that the Core Ultra processors do not perform as well as promised.

I'm terrible with this stuff.  Any thoughts on how Inventor performance could be affected?

I don't have any specific knowledge with these CPU's, but in general Inventor benefits more from high speed clock. It just can't utilize a lot of core's. What the gamers says might be relevant in gaming, but if your #1 focus is CAD work with Inventor, stick to that (your CAD station will be able to run games anyway! 😀 )

You might get some info from https://invmark.cadac.com/ where you can filter by CPU type and see what results each type has returned.

Currently an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K is at the top, then an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X 16-Core followed by a lot of i9's. This is likely also due to the newer one having not being around for a long time, yet.

I know back in the winter 13th and 14th gen Raptor Lake Intel processors had stability issues, but I believe Intel came out with a fix. Like Edvin had stated, clock speed is more important in general Inventor use. Core count is helpful in rendering and simulation.

Single thread rating is the most important thing as far as Inventor is concerned.

And, by the way, I have zero personal interest in gaming. But that community loves to analyze and argue about processors. 😄

Hey Guys, 

Were upgrading our lead engineering pc and I was wondering if yall pulled the trigger on that Core Ultra 9 285k and what you thought. My boss is concerned as solidworks required further tweaking. I wasnt directly involved with that and we use inventor here so figured id ask!

I am far from an expert in this area, but for what it's worth...

We recently purchased (3) machines:  (2) with Intel Core i9 14900 processors & (1) with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285 processor.  I've had no reports of any significant differences in performance.  All I know is that no one is complaining and that makes me happy. 😁
