Model Tree Information Display

Good morning

I have been using a descriptive part and/or assembly name which has been a challenge for a variety of reasons so am moving over to a non-descriptive and non- logic based sequential numbering system.  I was thinking I could modify the display of the model tree to display other parameters such as description, etc as a help in "finding" specific models in the tree.  However it seems only the file name or part name are able to be viewed in the model tree.  Am I missing something.

thx

The search bar in the browser will find anything in the iProperties of a part or assembly, so you can put what you like in the iProperties and still be able to find them.

You can name them whatever you want, but if someone comes along and runs 'rename browser nodes' it's gong to wipe all your hard work.

If you open your BOM on a second screen, when you select a part in it it'll highlight in your model. All your descriptions are there in front of you.

I take it the only things you can see in the Model Tree are Part Number and File Name other than renaming in the tree.  This is challenging.

Hi! I think some of the apps on App store may help. Please take a look.

No you are not missing something... "out of the box" what you see is what you get.

As listed above there may be addins that can modify what is shown in the model browser for node names.

Often times people will just locate whatever they want in the actual model view and right click and select "Find in Browser" or you can open the bill of materials screen and select an item there and it will be Highlighted in the browser too.. Just a few alternate ways to find stuff easier..

If you're using Vault, you can display whatever you want in the vault add-in browser.

Click the little clipboard icon at the top of the vault browser.

I set up CoolOrange MightyBrowser which is effective until you get to IAssemblies and then it does not function.

Are there other tools out that will display other IProperties in the Model Tree.

Thanks

The more info on the tree, the less screen space for model.

Unless one screen for tree, one screen for model.

BTW BOM can show as much info as you need in assembly.

There are several threads in the customization forum that might be helpful.

This thread may be helpful.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-ilogic-and-vb-net-forum/rename-browser-nodes/td-p/10530881

Setting up a that code or something from the similar threads to trigger on a iprop change or before a file save might be what you need.
