Hi! This does not look right. Is Express mode enabled? Try this. Go to Manage -> Rebuild All. Activate LOD: All Comp Suppressed and then activate LOD: Master. Go to BOM table. Does it work better now? If not, please share the files here or send them (zipped) to me directly (johnson.shiue@autodesk.com).
Many thanks!
Hi! Many thanks for sharing the files with me! I am not going over the detail of the files. But, I will share what might be the issue and how to fix it. It seems that one subassembly is corrupted. The BOM data was incomplete. The solution is to promote or demote the components out of the original subassembly. Then the BOM data will come back.
This is definitely a bug. It is probably due to migration or copy design. It is unclear to me how it happened. If you find out how to reproduce it, please let us know asap.
Thanks again!
Ran across the exact same issue today with a weldment .iam (empty BOM model data). All parts and the iam was built with 2020. No migration or Copy Design. Not exactly sure how this happened, but it took a while to demote/promote. After doing that the model data was there like it should have been in the first place.
BTW, I first tried to toggle the LOD from Master to All Comp Suppressed, but that did not bring back the model data. Had to demote/promote.
2020.3
in my assembly there was a part that, in the browser, was shown as an assembly. Once deleted it the bom showed up correctly.
I had to re-insert it and then the icon was correct and the bom as well.
Hi Diego,
This is absolutely a bug. If you happen to find out how the assembly got into this state, please let us know asap.
Many thanks!
I have the same problem with my files. The files was created by Copy Design.
Top assembly is 50-A-0015936 in attachment.
My coleague created them by Copy Design and he exchanged some parts in assembly. The model has no data in Bills of material and then this bug make issue with BOM on Item in VAULT.
Thx.

Hi Martin,
Many thanks for sharing the files! Indeed, the behavior is exactly the same as the original thread. You mentioned that you used Vault Copy Design. Did you use default settings or only some of the files are copied over?
Thanks again!
Hi,
my coleague said he had used copy design for whole assembly where he re-used all of parts. Then he went into Inventor and exchanged the sheet part and DIN bar part. Sheet part was used from next copy design of sheet part (the reason was he didnt have to do new drawing for sheet where was only a few changes).
We use Inventor 2020.3 and I dont know about another issue with assemblies yet
Thx.
M.
Hello
Our technical office had the same problem yesterday.
The designer explained to me that in Vault he copied an assembly using "Copy design" and during the copying process he replaced a subassembly with a part.
At the end of the copying process, he had the error that in Inventor was missing the model data in the BOM.
We use Vault Professional 2021.3.1 with Inventor Professional 2021.4.3
Hi! I believe there is a bug in Inventor & Vault Copy Design causing the behavior to happen. If you know the exact workflow leading to the corruption, please share the files and the steps with me directly johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I can work with the project teams to understand it better.
In the meantime, please take a look at my reply #4 above to repair the corrupted files.
Many thanks!
Hi! Unfortunately I can't send you any more files because our draftsmen have already fixed the problem.
The problem was with a defective subassembly.
I do not know if this is the cause for OP but I have observed this issue when replacing an assembly with a part. As if inventor gets upset from expecting to find an assembly but instead is given a part. Maybe this is the cause? The work around for me has been remove the questionable part and reinsert.
