measure loop in assembly

Hi,

I am missing the Loop-option when using the measuring tool in an assembly. In a part I get the option when hovering above an edge, but not in an assembly... Also not in a weld assembly where the o-ring groove is made in the assembly... I want to measure the inner o-ring loop length.
Do I need to modify a setting?

I'm using IV 2021

Just making sure you are choosing the "Select Faces and Edges" option and not Component or Part Priority.

Yes, I am selecting the (default) "Faces and Edges"

I don't have 2021 anymore, but when you choose an edge, do you see the "length" option?

yes, but in a non-circular o-ring groove this gives you just the length of part of the (not selectable) loop...

I show you the difference:

Assembly (no "loop" in the drop-down list)
assembly (no "loop" in the drop-down list)assembly (no "loop" in the drop-down list)

This is so weird.... I also see how in 2022 only in the Part environment you get access to Loops, not for assemblies. Must be hard somehow to code that in for the Assembly (or Weldment) environment.

EDIT: ok, it is confirmed to be disabled for performance reasons in Assemblies:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-forum/how-did-the-loop-measure-tool-become-even-more-difficu...

"It was disabled in assembly for performance reason. It is because the new Measure command needs to build up selection list in order to accommodate various measurement type. The process of building loops for body geometry can take a lot of time. Unfortunately, it is excluded from the Measure command at assembly level."

I follow you now. Appears to be the same in 2023.

Okay, I see. If you can go down to the part level it is not really a problem. For a weld assembly you can go into the sketch and measure the loop there. I only hope I remember that for the next time...

Thank you for the replies.
