I am going crazy here!!!

WHY is physical materials always  wrong?

I can change it but it is always set to something wrong, like 0,100 or 0,03 g/cm_2 is density for example on steel. It should be 7,8 8,0 something.

Yes I have done all reset, and put in standard materials again and again and again. I just cant take it anymore.

I have tried to make my own, but it will be wrong after a while again.

Inventor 2019.

Hi Reine,

Like I replied to you on Facebook, this may have something to do with corrupted Material Styles Library. Do you share the library with other users? Is it on a network drive? After you create the new styles, do you lock it or you keep changing it?

Many thanks!

The files are located on the network, but only I use it. I will put up an example here...

I can of course fix this but it will be the same again after some day, or like now, something different again.
It is the same on most materials.

If I put in the correct info, it is like this everytime I making a new part with the same material.

I put up an picture on facebook.

I am going crazy for reel now.

Hello Reine,

It sounds like when you are making a change to the material, you are only changing the material in the local file you are working in. That modified material must be saved back to the library for it to work on future projects. How and what are you changing on the material to get what you are looking for? Are you able to save the material back to the library? Are you syncing the local document to the library with the Update styles command? I have several custom materials that I have added to our library on the network and they work fine. I haven't seen your FB post so I might be missing something here.

Cheers,

Todd

I always update meterials when I create a new part.

Now when I open an old part that I know was fine yesterday is "blank" now...

Now I dont have a material thats right to save back to the library.

How do I reset all materials without reseting the whole inventor?

Hello Reine,

When I set the materials up on the network, I copied all the default material that is installed with Inventor from my C: drive up to a network location. Then I modified the project files and default file paths to point to the network location. As long as I work to a project that uses the network, I am good. Do you still have the original library files on your hard drive? If so, you can simply copy them up to the network and they should restore. Sorry if I am stating the obvious here but, as I said I haven't seen the process you use to modify the density of material or how the material library was setup.

Cheers,

Todd

Hi Guys,

It is Ok to place the library on a network drive. But, it was not designed to work like that. The obtain the best performance and stability, you want to keep your Material and Appearance Library local but locked (managed by Vault). Keeping it on a network drive can lead to corruption like this. It is because the library management module has to communicate back and forth between the style in the memory and the style in the library to ensure they are in sync. Such communication is better done on local drive.

Many thanks!
