Hi Guys,

I'm looking for this exact wood texture for Inventor (see attachment). I hope someone can tell me where can I find it. I have searched the network for so long but nothing! 😞

Thanks.

Check the links from this page http://www.cbliss.com/inventor/Textures/

the noctua link usually has some good textures.

I have found similar to those 2, but I can't make them look like the one in the attachment.
Maybe it's a photo of a real wood and not an Inventor wood texture.

If I had to guess, I'd say that image probably wasn't done in Inventor at all.  The image pretty clearly shows plywood, and Inventor will not give you a good  clean plywood effect like that without a lot of really careful, time consuming and annoying messing around.  It'd be a lot quicker and simpler to get something like that out of 3DS Max instead, and that's what I suspect that the ADSK marketing types did.

Years ago - this used to be pretty easy in Inventor - then they changed everything and I haven't used textures since.
Never took the time to figure out the new way.

Yep.

Anymore if I need to do something like what's shown there I'll just send it over to Showcase.  Designate the front and back of the wood as one texture, designate the edges as another, then do it all with GIMP and Showcase.

cgtextures.com is a pretty good place to look for these too.

Hi Mark_Flayer,

Thanks, I know this website. But I think LT.Rusty is right. The best way for me to get the texture to work, is by using Showcast. Inventor is too complicated in regards to adding new textures and the result is not good enough.

I have found some textures, we'll see if I can make it work.

Thanks 🙂

Take a look at Wood Workshop from Sprial Graphics.

http://www.spiralgraphics.biz/ww_overview.htm

I've used it to create many seamless wood textures for Inventor 2012.

We haven't advanced beyond 2012, so I don't know if it as useful for later releases of Inventor.

Not sure if that exact texture is in there, or if the directory is available since it might be part of the suite install, but see if you have this directory:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\Materials\Textures\3\Mats

There's a lot of nice textures in there, directory "3" seems to hold the "high res" versions.
