Legacy Project Type - Shared

Hello -

We are a small company and not wanting/ nor need to use vault...

I am wondering if you have a Legacy Project type - SHARED

I have used our root network drive (G:) as our workspace... (This encompasses all folders with drive G:)

I have added two workgroups/paths from G: drive (Folder A and B) These folders will give me quick access when I save/open files...

I have added three libraries/paths from G: drive (Released, Hardware, Core Parts)

I added the library (Released) as these parts have been Completed, Released to Production.

My question is after I have saved/moved inventor files to Library Released can you check-out the inventor file for editing, and check-in after done?

What I want is files in the Released folder to be read only... what is the best way to do this using Inventor? By using the G: drive root all folders are included in the search path, so no matter if Inventor files are moved, Inventor still maps their location as I included the entire G: drive... this seems to work!

Thanks,

Brian

Hi! The way to handle library editing workflow is to have another project file having the library path under Workspace instead of Library folders. When the project is active, all the parts under Workspace can be editable. This particular project should be kept somewhere regular users do not have access to. It should be reserved for people editing the library files.

Many thanks!
