Joint>Rotational>Limits> How to set limits for a 4 axis hinge

Hello There,

Here's a pretty common a piece of hardware with some complex rotational relationships.   I'm working with a with hybrid model of imported geometry and new modeled geometry. I have everything assembled correctly and now I need to set this hinge at 90 degrees. I can get it close with some trial and error.

  • I was hoping for a way set the joints perpendicular or parallel to some other geometry to really nail the 90 degrees.
  • The it would be great if I could then reset the angular limits to zero as a new starting point

 See screenshots and P&G zip.

Hi

Make sure that there are no hidden (accidental or intentional) asymmetries in the geometry of imported components.

Thanks for the demo.

I'm most interested in getting the planes orthogonally aligned....Maybe another way to think about it is get these two planes parallel. See video demo and screenshots.

Hi!

I started to look at this hours ago, but had no time to finish and post it.

I finished now and post it now anyway.

Complementing the @kacper.suchomski good advice, i suggest also avoid Joints if you can use Constraints.
Joins are more complex to use, Constraints are more stable.

You can try the files.

The answer was pretty simple. Use constrain > angular. See screenshots and video demo. Big thanks to  @CCarreiras 🏆 and @kacper.suchomski 🏆
